Update #1: they do offer nitrous. Update #2: Sai is an AMAZING tech. He's my favorite tech; he is such a sweet person. He & Dr Cheng both talk me through what they're doing (i.e. "little pinch of the needle" - read the rest of this review for more about needles/shots), they bothh recognize & acknowledge when my anxiety is getting the better of me - Sai even reminded me to count to 10 & take deep breaths during an extraction. 10/10 AMAZING staff I came to Cheng Dental after 2 years of not seeing a dentist. Covid made it hard & I already have dental anxiety. Unfortunately Cheng Dental doesn't do laughing gas, but I medicated at home & did just fine. Dr. Cheng is very good with giving shots - he even has this tool that vibrates your gums as he gives the shot, which I personally feel makes it hurt at lot less. Dr Cheng has always made sure I was VERY numb before working on me. So far I've had two root canals with him NO laughing gas. Dr Cheng & staff are warm, non-judgemental & actually listen to what you want & can afford.

I received a referral letter for a possibly needed root canal. Dr. Cheng did a number of tests (very thorough) and concluded that a root canal was not needed. It's been about 2 weeks sense I've gotten my crown for my root canal procedure and I haven't had anything abnormal occur with it so far. The staff, from who I've interacted with, were all very nice and helpful. In the Spring I came in for the first time for a root canal procedure and from the beginning I felt comfortable and heard. In addition, I noticed how nice everything looked visually. Later on when it was time for my actual procedure, I didn't feel uncomfortable or feel abnormal pain. A few weeks later I was having some concerns, they checked me in the very next day and reassured me that it was normal and explained what was going on in a clear and understandable way. In addition to this, they even were able to move the final part of the procedure (the crown) up to the very next day instead of weeks later like originally planned, in which it went smoothly as well. Again, I want to emphasize the friendliness of the staff. The staff at the front desk were very helpful, especially Diamond who I talked to the most, the nurse I had, Kenya, who was super kind, and the dentist, William Cheng, who explained everything in a clear and understandable way. What makes or breaks an establishment like this (like a medical office) for me is the people behind it, and everyone I talked to helped create the great experience I had. Overall, my experience thus far has been great and I feel this is a safe and helpful place I can come back to and recommend to my family.

I've visited Dr. Cheng for the last 2 years. He is prompt, does a great job of explaining the procedures, and is consistent with approach. Lately, he did the my daughter’s resin filling with reasonable price and the cleaning as well and it was FABULOUS!! and she said pain FREE! With past other dentists, giving shots has been painful and multiple shots have been required. This has never occurred with Dr. Cheng. At first, my daughter was pretty nervous about getting her two resin done but doctor was very kindly educational and confident which was reassuring that it would all go just fine! Oh, and what was most reassuring and satisfying was that the machines in the dental office were almost brand new, fairly expensive, top-of-the-line machines. I've visited Dr. Cheng for the last 2 years. He is prompt, does a great job of explaining the procedures, and is consistent with approach. Lately, he did the my daughter’s resin filling with reasonable price and the cleaning as well and it was FABULOUS!! and she said pain FREE! With past other dentists, giving shots has been painful and multiple shots have been required. This has never occurred with Dr. Cheng. At first, my daughter was pretty nervous about getting her two resin done but doctor was very kindly educational and confident which was reassuring that it would all go just fine! Oh, and what was most reassuring and satisfying was that the machines in the dental office were almost brand new, fairly expensive, top-of-the-line machines. I am super afraid and super nervous to go to the dentist. I just left after getting 5 cavities filled and didn't feel any pain. I am blown away I can't believe it. Kenya and Dr. Cheng were very nice and comforting to me. I have never been to a better dentist than this. I have OCD and they are very meticulous with there work. I would highly recommend this dentist they are a blessing for sure. Thank you so much for fixing my teeth. My other dentist wanted to put a cap on my one tooth and it wouldn't have been covered by my insurance and would cost me $850. Dr Cheng said all I needed was a filling for the cavity. I got 5 fillings and my insurance covered everything. They are very honest and do exceptional work. Why go anywhere else.

Absolutely THE best dental experience I've ever had, each and every time, ALL THE WAY AROUND!! I've seen many dentists and I've had a whole lot of dental & orthodontic work done in the past and I honestly feel as though I have found "my dentist for life!" I was in urgent need for a root canal which is what led me to Dr. Cheng - Not only was he willing to accept (and work with!!) my insurance, he was willing to fit me in right away following what was a nightmare of an experience with Family Dental in Hampton at the onset of my "emergency." The receptionists Tina & Cianna are WONDERFUL- they are always VERY kind, understanding, accommodating and helpful.. Amka & Aleja not only know what they are doing, they too are both AMAZING, gentle and kind and are clearly masters at assisting Dr Cheng!! Most of all, Dr Cheng himself is TOP NOTCH- He could not have done a better job on my root canal/ crown and the fact that he was (unexpectectedly) willing and able to complete some additional dental work on top of getting my permanent Crown (which saved me another appt- yey!) went above and beyond my expectations and made my day!! Dentist was just as good! First time I went to a dentist and did not feel any pain through the root canal. This is odd because everyone else I have been to has a problem getting my mount numb enough that I don't feel the whole thing. Deff. recommend this place! I went to see dr.Cheng two years ago to get teeth pulled while I was pregnant. He made it super fast, clean and easy recovery. This month I've had to get quite a bit of work done and so far yet again him and his staff have done amazing. I have pretty bad anxiety and how he reassures me in a calm voice that everything is ok and if I feel anything just let him know is a big thing because not every dentist is that understanding. His staff is so sweet and so encouraging by telling me at the end of appointments "I'm so glad we are on this journey together!" Highly recommend going here. I mean look at how clean and nice the aftermath of tons or cavities and a wisdom taken out. Felt nothing.

So I had not seen a dentist in 5 years and wanted to get a check up. My colleagues had recommended me Cheng Dental. I saw all the great reviews so I've decided to check it out. I walked in and instantly felt welcomed. The reception area looks clean and the staff were very friendly. Dr. Cheng carefully reviewed my X-ray and it was discovered that I needed a root canal, removal of my wisdom teeth that was causing an infection and a deep cleaning. During the whole process, Dr. Cheng was very patient and was thorough. While cleaning my teeth, he would double check and made sure that he did not miss a spot. I felt safe during the process because he is also very knowledgeable and informative. Dr. Cheng can do it all and does it well! I would definitely recommend this place whether it's a simple cleaning or something more serious. Amazing experience!

My teeth cleaning was as gentle as it could have been & my Root Canal was done very smoothly, quickly and as painless as anything. Got my first root canal 9/15/2021. I'm terrified of needles. I felt the first poke because he came too soon after the numbing gel. 4/10 for pain because he used a vibrating probe with the needle. I needed a second shot when he went deep 6/10. A third shot when he went deeper 4/10. I never felt the second or third shot or any other drilling pain besides those two points. I would have given 5 stars had he waited just a little longer for the numbing gel work better and had given enough anestesia the first time. Everyone was pleasant and professional.

The thought of the dentist and the sound of the drill always made my anxiety go through the roof in the past. While I was still nervous to get a root canal, Dr. Cheng and his team made me feel SO comfortable… I almost fell asleep. You can tell that they care!! The office is well kept and clean, making you feel right at home! Tiffany helped me get checked in and went over pricing BEFORE the procedure which I know a lot of people can appreciate. He made sure I wasn’t in any pain and coached me through every thing. He answered all my questions and was respectful. First, I want to thank Dr. Cheng for the smooth filling procedure and being understanding to me and his assistants for making me feel comfortable while they have done my filling! I know it is not a major procedure but I usually feel anxious when going to the dentist, but with my appointment today I could definitely say that it was close to painless procedure! Thank you to the Dental Assistant Ms. Amka for holding my hand when I was so anxious about the anesthesia injection! However, when I came in the morning today, the Practice Manager kept insisting that a Covid Form was sent via text yesterday or last night, even though I did not receive any, but still she insisted and gave me this little irritated look though she is usually nice every time I am done with my appointment. Lastly, the front desk needs to be more welcoming especially in the role she serves. I explained to her my concern (other staff insisting that I should have received the Covid Form) which she flippantly disregarded. Especially when we found out that I was right all along - Covid Form was sent 15mnts via email prior to the appointment. It would have made a difference if the front desk just did not answer with a blant "Ok". Be empathetic. That is coming from a former Front Desk in Japan.

I hadn't been to the dentist in 10 years due to my extreme fear of the dentist. When I was a child I was strapped down by my dentist and pinched every time I would cry. Very horrible experience. When I walked into Dr. Cheng's office everyone greeted me and were super friendly. I love how you can fill out all the paperwork before the appointment. My appointment was at 9a.m and I was brought straight back for x-rays. Super easy process. Come to find out I needed 7 fillings. I was freaking out but Dr. Cheng and his staff made me feel so comfortable and talked me through everything. He filled four of my teeth and we came up with a plan for the other three in a few months. The office also made sure I was aware of all the pricing before anything was done, which I really appreciate. And the pricing is very fair which is also a GREAT bonus! Overall if you are thinking about making an appointment, DO IT. You will not be disappointed. Lastly, The office has great Covid-19 rules. Everyone has mask on, very cleanly office , air filters and hand sanitizers! A+

I had a great experience here. I was feeling terrible after having a dental emergency and no dentist could see me within a respectable window. I was a new patient here and the receptionist welcomed me with an open book for the following week. Which was amazing because of COVID, all appointment were months away. I could not be in pain that long. As I got here, there was no long wait, staff was gentle and dentist made it super easy for an extraction. Dr. Cheng would keep asking if I felt any pain and within minutes I was in and out of there. I didnt even realize he was done til the assistant gave me some extra gauze to go about my day. Cheng Dental is by far one of the best dental offices I have been to. My mom and I decided to drive two hours from our small home town to Cheng Dental after finding out that the office provided Korean translators since my mom is not fluent in English. My mom was dealing with a lot of pain with her tooth, and after seeing two general dentists before going to Cheng Dental, she felt hopeless. Dr. Cheng was able to do a root canal on her successfully, and we are planning to go back in two weeks for her crown. Before seeing Dr. Cheng, my mom was terrified of dentists, but now she seems less anxious for her next appointment. Went there on a referral for a root canal. Dr. Cheng did some tests and found that no root canal was needed. Other specialists might have performed some unneeded procedure to make the fee, but Dr. Cheng showed high integrity and just sent me on my way. Entire staff was very professional and friendly.

As my weakness for chocolates has always been my misfortune, it has caused me much pain and agony in the latter of my life. So sweet, yet extremely painful and damaging. Because of my misfortune I have managed to see over a handful of dentists who have tried and failed with such tasks as simple as a filling. However, my sophomore year in VCU, I came across Dr. Jan Masood while she was still in dental school. At first I was unsure of having a student working on me, but it was my only option at the time. It took me a while, but I noticed the quality of her work. I had made her redo all the filings that previous dentists had done. It would only make sense as someone in my position to say that Dr. Masood is one of the few most competent dentists that that I have came across. Aside from being competent, Dr. Masood is also compassionate about her career, which makes me comfortable. Anyone can be a dentist, but how many actually care about you? 4 years later, I still come and see her at park dental in Hampton, Va. I definitely recommend her to anyone, especially first timers! Dr. Masood is a very good dentist she explains everything about ur procedure i was nervous at first but she assured me that it would go good and it did i had 4 broken teeth under my gum line i thought i had to have my gums cut but she was able to pull all 4 teeth without cutting my gum the work she did was excellent very friendly and professional staff best dentist in the area

Dr. Masood is the best dentist that ever worked on me. She makes the visit comfortable and easy. The best qualities is that she is very detailed in explaining the procedure/ visit , extremely organized, and always encourages questions . She always knows whats best for her patients. Best ever! Dr. Park and Dr Masood are wonderful! So is the entire office staff! I switched to this dentist probably 12 years ago when my dentist was closed during Christmas Break, and I had an extremely painful abscessed tooth that needed to be pulled and had to have a root canal. They weren't even my regular dentist, but kindly made sure I was treated quickly and with great care. I will always go here. My son who was nervous to go to other dentists did fine here right away. The atmosphere is always pleasant and comforting! Highly recommended!

Dr. Masood is an excellent dentist. I had a complicated problem, boken down teeth with an infection under a bridge. I was told by another dentist that i have to be seen in VCU . Dr. Masood was able to pull all of them. She comforted me during the procedure as i was very nervous first. I'm glad i didn't have to drive to Richmond. If you are looking for an easy painless dental visit, i really recommend Dr. Masood.

Love this dentist! I started as a patient here back in 2008, never had any issues with service or procedures, appointments are always on time and staff is great to take to over the phone and very pleasant in person. I moved to DC for 6 years and when I came back to the hampton roads area and needed dental work, I came right back! As long as I am in the area, this will be my dentist. :)
